Joel Ogunsola, who recently won the ICT Entrepreneur of the Year Award at the 2022 Beacon of ICT awards has been accepted into Forbes Technology Council, an invitation-only community for world-class CIOs, CTOs, and Technology Executives.
As the Chief Executive Officer of an award-winning enterprise technology solutions company, Joel deploys technology to deliver his dreams and aspirations around achieving the sustainable development goals and solving the world’s greatest problems in Africa.
Over the last 5 years, Joel has consistently left an indelible mark as a technology juggernaut while driving partnerships and sustainability across several impact-oriented initiatives like; Tech4Dev, a non-profit social enterprise that creates access to decent work and entrepreneurship opportunities for Africans through digital skills empowerment and advocacy, reaching two (2) million people annually; Emerging Communities Africa, a non-profit focused on catalyzing technology ecosystems in rural and suburban communities across Africa; and GloEpid, a health non-profit focused on helping to prevent the world’s next epidemy.
From 2019 – 2020, Joel served as the pioneer head of Ondo State Office of Innovation and Partnerships, and the Senior Special Assistant (SSA) to the Ondo State Governor, the youngest SSA to lead the office at the time. He was responsible for managing and securing partnerships for development-related projects within the government as well as driving innovation across all existing and new government initiatives, ensuring that the government meets the startup thinking, the technology, and the partners required to turn these initiatives into scalable and sustainable solutions.
Joel is a visionary leader with a wide range of experience and accolades who is dedicated to expanding the use of technology to enhance the quality of life and the productivity of businesses in Africa’s private and public sectors. After working at Microsoft, where Joel oversaw the country’s Education Technology Advisory team, he decided to move to Nigeria and start his own Technology company.
Joel was vetted and selected by a review committee based on the depth and diversity of his experience around technology and innovation, sustainable development, education/digital skilling. The criteria for acceptance include his consistent track record of successfully impacting business growth metrics, as well as several personal and professional achievements and honors.
